Laundry Love

We are pleased to report that Laundry Love Community Outreach, which serves the poor and homeless in our community, continues to flourish on a monthly basis.

The last Monday of every month we take over the Super Laundromat on Summer Street in New Bedford.

In January 2017, Southcoast Health sent their Wellness Van for our clients; it will return in February.

Many thanks to them for this service!

When this ministry started in April 2015 with Tori Laskey, our very capable intern, a committee was formed and when she left us in June 2015 to continue her education in Indiana we were happy to continue this very important ministry.

We are blessed to have volunteers and donors to help with this worthy cause.

These are the numbers for 2016:

  • People served (498)
  • Loads of laundry washed and dried (884)

Usually, we spend about $600 each month.  Parishioners have donated supplies and contributed towards the support of Laundry Love.  We received a generous grant from Southcoast Health Systems in 2016.

In addition, we have received funds from the Masons of Boston, First Citizens Federal Credit Union, the Episcopal Church Women, the Bittersweet Bazaar, and the Mt. Hope / Buzzards Bay Deanery.

Our committee continues to seek grants and donations through 2017 and beyond. If you would like to volunteer or make a donation, please contact Tom Cabral, Travis Bowie, Marilyn Saint-Aubin, Chuck Cotter, Judy Knox or Diana Ukleja.
