We are pleased to report that Laundry Love Community Outreach, which serves the poor and homeless in our community, continues to flourish on a monthly basis.
Southcoast Health has supported us financially, and sends their Wellness Van several times a year for our clients.
Many thanks to them for this service!
This ministry started in April 2015 at the suggestion of Tori Laskey, then a Life Together intern supported by our diocese. A committee was formed to continue this very important ministry after Tori left.
We are blessed to have volunteers and donors to help with this worthy cause.
Laundry Love serves the low income and homeless population in the New Bedford area. It operates from Martha’s Pantry on the last Wednesday of each month 9:30-10:30am. The pandemic put an end to holding Laundry Love at the E-Z Clean Laundromat on Summer and Kempton Streets in New Bedford.
Since February of 2021, we have distributed laundry cards with $20 on each card. We spend $600 most months to purchase 30 cards which are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis to those who do not have laundry facilities at home. The cards are for use at the original site, E-Z Clean Laundry.
To make a donation to Laundry Love, please send a check to Grace with "Laundry Love" in the memo or contact the Grace office with questions office@gracechurchnb.org.
